Sausalito

Located just four miles away from San Francisco, Sausalito is a beautiful waterfront town with amazing food and some of the views in Marin. The area is perfect whether you want to have a picnic at Dunphy park or a date night at Sushi Ran, a highly ranked restaurant by both Zagat and Michelin. On any nice day, Sausalito is a hub of activity in Marin. Local boat owners often sail over for food and drinks after a day on the water. Many restaurants like Scoma’s and The Spinnaker are located within walking distance of harbors and have balcony seating over the water. Sausalito is also very easily accessed by bikes, and tourists and residents alike often ride in from across The Golden Gate Bridge.  The residents form a very tightly knit community which can be seen through events like Jazz and Blues by the Bay and the annual Sausalito Art Festival. Sausalito is well known for its community of 400 colorful floating homes converted from houseboats. The Otis Redding song “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” was inspired by a visit to one of the floating homes, owned by famous promoter Bill Graham. Sausalito is also home to the Marin Headlands, which offers an unbeatable view from the hills above the Golden Gate Bridge. Right near the base of the bridge, Cavallo Point Lodge offers incredible food and a luxury spa. A four-minute walk down the road from Cavallo is the Bay Area discovery museum, the perfect place to take kids on a weekend. Sausalito is also a popular destination among surfers and beachgoers alike who spend their days at Fort Cronkite. There is never a shortage of things to do when living in Sausalito.
