Your Guide to Marin County Farmers Markets

Marin County takes local food seriously. Here is where to find it.

Saturday

Marin Country Mart Farmers Market, Larkspur

Saturday 9am - 2pm, year-round

Held at Marin Country Mart with bay views, live music from noon to 2pm, and a lineup that includes Cowgirl Creamery, Rustic Bakery, Frog Hollow Farm, and Santa Rosa Seafood with fresh fish and BBQ oysters. Genuinely family-oriented - face painting, pony rides, a petting zoo, and kids entertainment run every week - which makes it as much of a Saturday outing as a shopping trip. A fixture in the Larkspur neighborhood scene.

Point Reyes Farmers Market, Point Reyes Station

Saturday 9am - 2pm (May - September)

At Toby's Feed Barn on Highway 1 in Point Reyes Station, operated by the Agricultural Institute of Marin. A natural stop on a West Marin day - fresh seasonal produce in one of the most scenic corners of the county. Check their site for current seasonal dates.

Sunday

Sunday Marin Farmers Market, San Rafael

Sunday 8am - 1pm, year-round

The third largest weekly farmers market in California is held at the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Marin County Civic Center. Over 150 vendors - 100+ local farms and specialty food producers, cheese mongers, and a plethora of food vendors from diverse cultures, and a prepared foods selection that makes it easy to turn a market trip into a gourmet lunch. Operated by the Agricultural Institute of Marin. Accessible by car off the 101, the SMART train at the Civic Center station, or local bike trails. Our team's favorites include the Dim Sum vendor, Portside Sourdough, and the roast chicken from Roli Roti.

Sausalito Farmers Market, Sausalito

Sunday 9am - 2pm, year-round

Held at Dunphy Park on the Sausalito waterfront. A well-placed Sunday morning stop for anyone in the area, with fresh produce and a setting that is hard to beat. Worth pairing with a walk along the water before or after.

Tuesday

Downtown Larkspur Farm Stand, Larkspur

Tuesday 11am - 7pm, seasonal

At the corner of Magnolia Avenue and Ward Street, in the parking lot across from Left Bank. More farm stand than full street market, with fresh seasonal fruit, local organic vegetables, and rotating artisanal goods from Marin Community Farm Stands. A low-key midweek stop for downtown Larkspur. For a full-scale Saturday farmers market experience nearby, locals head to Marin Country Mart at Larkspur Landing.

Strawberry Village Farmers Market, Mill Valley

Thursday

Thursday Marin Farmers Market, San Rafael

Thursday 8am - 1pm, year-round

The same Civic Center location as the Sunday market, with a different character. The Thursday market is known as the Chef's Market - over 40 top Bay Area chefs shop here weekly, including nearly a dozen with Michelin recognition. AIM's original market, running since 1983, with 85+ participants and a lagoon setting with views of Mount Tam. Community activities include a mobile library and the Extra Food program. A strong midweek option for anyone in San Rafael.

Friday

Mill Valley Farmers Market, Mill Valley

Friday 9:30am - 2:30pm, year-round

In the CVS parking lot at 759 East Blithedale Avenue. Smaller and more curated than the Civic Center markets, this Friday market fits the Mill Valley scene well. The vendors know their regulars, the goods lean toward small-batch and artisan, and the pace is relaxed enough to feel like a lunch break rather than an errand.

Good farmers markets have a way of becoming part of the routine. Any of these is worth adding to yours.

Know the Market, Know the Neighborhood

Ask a local which day their market runs and you will usually learn more about that neighborhood than any listing could tell you. Larkspur's Saturday crowd, the chefs who show up in San Rafael on Thursdays, the after-work pace of a Tuesday stand on Magnolia Ave - it is all part of how these towns actually run week to week.

At Outpost Real Estate, this is the kind of detail we bring to every search. Buying or selling in Marin means more than comparing square footage - it means understanding the rhythm of a place, market day included. Reach out when you are ready to find a neighborhood that fits how you actually want to live.
